Year 4 comprise three classes of 88 energetic and talented students.

We have commenced the school year with enthusiasm and confidence ready for all the challenges and learning experiences in 2013.

Mulga Bill - the BookThis year our teachers Mr Butler, Mrs Boyd and Mrs Evans want us to improve our fitness and sporting skills. Every morning we start our day with 20 minutes of physical activity. We learn and practise a movement skill that we will use in lots of different sports. We are currently focusing on sprinting. This has been lots of fun!

We are really enjoying our Maths work this year too! We get to play lots of Maths games with dice and playing cards, as well as playing interactive games on the smartboard or on our laptops.

We are learning to become great readers and writers through our Reading to Learn program. To begin this term, we have focused on the poem “Mulga Bill’s Bicycle” by A. B. Paterson. We have created some very funny and clever poems of our own.

This term we have also commenced our COGS learning unit on Machines. Later this term we will be visiting the local Transport Museum to have a close look at some machines.

Did you know the bike in Patterson's story was most likely the safety bicycle, and not the penny-farthing in the picture?

In our COGS unit this term, we have started learning about Products and Services. To support our learning in this unit we will be going on an excursion to visit various organisations that provide us with important services to our community.

Sport this term will involve a rotation of Winter Sport activities. Each class will participate in the following sports: Soccer, T- Ball, Tennis, Aus Tag, Netball and Hockey. Tennis and T-Ball will take place at school and the other sports will take place at the Sporting Complex. This rotation of Winter Sports will commence in Week 5 and continue into Term 4. All students will have the opportunity to play each of these sports.

Inverell Transport Museum

On Tuesday this week Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed our excursion to the Inverell Transport Museum. We had lots of fun looking at how cars, motorbikes and bicycles have changed over time. One of the best parts was going onto the double decker bus, as well as sitting on the motorbike.

We would like to thank Kevin and Tania who showed us around the museum!
