Ross Hill has a proud history of success and encouragement in the sporting arena. All students participate in regular DPE sessions, PE lessons and sport sessions. Students at Ross Hill are taught the skills to play many games and dance to enjoy life long physical activities. Boys playing Football

Teams represent the school in various sports – netball, basketball, rugby league, soccer, hockey, touch , tennis and cricket - in the annual PSSA Knockout competitions as well as local competitions. Individual students have the opportunity to represent in a variety of sports at school, zone, region and state level.

Each year the school holds its own Swimming Carnival, Cross Country and Athletics Carnival. A large number of students progress from these carnivals to represent the school, zone and region at the next level.

A 10 day Swimming School is held each year for all Year 2 students at the local pool. Qualified Austswim teachers from within the school and from the community teach these lessons

The school is a Crunch and Sip school where all children are encouraged to eat fresh fruit or vegetables and drink water during a break in class lessons each day. We also enforce a Sunsmart Policy where we use the rule of “No hat. Play in the shade”.

The school also participates in the Active After Schools program on two afternoons each week during each term. Children are encouraged to be active by participating in various games. Each child receives afternoon tea of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Active After School Care

This year, Ross Hill Public School continues to receive a grant from the Australian Government through the Australian Sports Commission.

The grant is for the 'Active After-School Communities Program'. It focuses on the development of mobility and motor skills. It aims to provide children with inclusive participation in a safe and fun structured environment.

It is also designed to engage traditionally non-active children in structured physical activity and to build pathways with local community organisations.
