EXCELLENCE, INNOVATION, COMMUNITY

  Our Website

At Ross Hill we value excellence, innovation and community. Our website is a good example of these values combined. It is an innovative resource by which we can display our excellence to the community.

All staff and many students contribute content to the website, without which, our website would be greatly lacking in colour and information. A diverse team of staff have built and maintained our own website for over 6 years. Initially we built our website using Microsoft's Frontpage softare, but more recently we have been using Adobe Dreamweaver. For some time we have investigated using a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress or Joomla!. But we are getting such good statistical information from Google, that we are wondering if our simple html format is actually easier for Google to search and find what people want. In other words, people are typing fairly broad terms in Google, and yet our website is being found regularly on the top ten - above thousands of NSW public schools which use a corporate CMS.

Certainly an additional reason is that our school values providing comprehensive information through our website to the community.

For the last year, our website has utilised statistics from StatCounter.com. (It's a free resource, thanks and WooHoo StatCounter.)

Here is a very interesting summary of example statistics from StatCounter - specifically about http://www.rosshill-p.schools.nsw.edu.au These statistics are gathered by the placement of a cookie on people's computers.(Note: the information we are gathering is easily gathered by any website, and is only brief in comparison to what Google and Facebook gathers on their users hourly!)
