Canteen Manager of the Year

Our Canteen Manager - Jenny FoxJenny Fox, our wonderful canteen manager was named the Canteen Manager of the Year at the Healthy Kids Association Awards evening held on Monday 22nd November.

The round of applause for Jenny was as large as the appreciation from the Ross Hill Public School community. A summary of jenny's work will be featured in the February Healthy Kids magazine.

Ross Hill Principal wins the William Walker Award

On Friday 29th October we celebrated World Teachers Day. The Australian College of Educators and the Australian Council for Educational Leaders held a joint dinner at the Armidale Bowling Club. A group of staff from Ross Hill Public School attended this prestigious event.

Mrs Jenny Murray Principal of Ross Hill Public School won the William Walker Award for Outstanding Leadership.

Mrs Murray is pictured with her award, accompanied by teachers at Ross Hill, Mr Peter Pickett-School Education Director and Jenny Shaw Senior Lecturer at the University of New England.

Ross Hill - Best Start Lighthouse School

The Ross Hill Public School kindergarten teachers were selected for the second year in a row to represent the New England Region as a Best Start Lighthouse School. Our staff have consistently demonstrated outstanding achievements in the teaching of Literacy and Numeracy and we regularly host visitors from schools across the region to observe best practice in our classrooms.Best Start

On Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd October three of our staff presented a wonderful workshop at the Best Start State Conference held in Sydney. Mrs Debbie Baker and Mr Chris King gave a great presentation on how Ross Hill has established excellence, innovation and partnerships with the community to improve student learning outcomes.

  • 6 Ross Hill students attended Regional Junior Chess League Tournament at Armidale - 1 Ross Hill Student came equal first with 6 other students. 120 students from the region attended this event.

Creative and Practical Arts - Visual Arts

  • Inverell Show - Winner most successful exhibitor
  • Opera in the Paddock Competition - Winner - Infants wearable art and second in the primary wearable art
  • Armidale Fair Trading Naidoc Week Competition - Winner of the collaboration category,
    Winner - Indigenous Child category,
    Highly Commended - Indigenous Youth category, School Project category
  • Inverell Waste to Art Competition - Winners and achieved 2nd and 3rd prizes

In 2011 we have achieved outstanding success including:

ACE Kerr Award for Christina Howard* Winning the award for Outstanding School at the New England region Giyanha Dirrabuu Murri awards an award that recognises excellence in indigenous education.

* Runners up in the New England Regional Debating competition

* Finalists in the New England Regional Awards of Excellence for Teacher Quality

* Finalists in the New England Regional Awards of Excellence for Quality Service

* Winning the Australian College of Educators Kerr Award for an outstanding teacher in their first five years of service (see picture - on right)

* Finalists in the NSW PSSA State knockout competitions in rugby league, netball and boys touch

* Thirty students represented North West in State Sports Championships including swimming, athletics, cross country and sports teams.

* The school’s senior dance group performed at the State Dance Festival

North West Boys Relay Team* Many students received first place and highest point scores at a range of horse sports events

* Students represented at State level in public speaking and debating.

 

Our school continues to grow from strength to strength.
